Nutronics, Inc. was founded in 1995. Nutronics, Inc.’s founder and principal from 1995–2007 (Directed Energy Professional Society Fellow Mr. Richard B. Holmes) played a critical role in development and successful execution of multiple large scale Directed Energy and High Energy Laser programs. Modeling and simulation tools developed by Nutronics, Inc. were instrumental in evaluation of new innovative methods and in identifying and eliminating or mitigating complex program risk areas.
In 2007, Mr. Jeffrey D. Barchers joined Nutronics, Inc. The company began to grow rapidly during this period, winning multiple government contracts and defining a vision to develop electro-optical system solutions to the nation’s most challenging problems principally in the area of laser propagation through turbulence. We recognized that there was a tremendous misconception related to the capability of the state of the art in adaptive optical (AO) systems outside of the area of astronomy and a need to develop high performance AO system solutions that offer robust performance in demanding turbulence conditions. This has led to technology efforts and offerings in four primary areas: (1) High performance AO system solutions for applications with a cooperative or point source target including Free Space Optical (FSO) Communication; (2) High performance AO system solutions for applications with non-cooperative extended targets ; (3) Phased Array beam control – often viewed as the “holy grail” of high energy laser system technology; and (4) Analytic and Diagnostic Support using modeling and simulation tools and / or development of diagnostic systems.
